Our team participated to the first DRONE DAYS fair that took place in Brussels, at “Tour & Taxis” exhibition center from 7th to 9th of March.

Thousands of visitors came there to visit us, discovering our professional solutions for:

• aerial photography and filming

• photogrammetry, digital orthophotography & orthophoto
• architecture and civil engineering
• laser scanning (LIDAR)
• and many other applications

The AltiGator team was present at the SATIS Exhibition, in Paris – Porte de Versailles from 18 to 20 November 2014.

Visitors were able to discover our high power drones like the OnyxStar Fox-C8-HD and the outperforming Hydra-12 designed for heavy cameras (payload capacity up to 12 kg) on stand B43 – Hall 5.2.

Light Detection and Ranging (more commonly called LIDAR) is a laser-based remote sensing technology. It is widely used in the domain of geographical information system (GIS) for surveying and mapping natural resources and infrastructures.

LIDAR is well known in the domain of producing high-resolution maps in remote sensing, atmospheric sensing, geomatics, geography, geomorphology, archeology, forestry, contour mapping, laser altimetry, geographic infomatics and related sciences that are relying on high accuracy definition of terrestrial three-dimensional points position and the extremely precise & faithful calculation of the distances and angles between them.

Since a decade, the LIDAR technology has proven its efficiency and the market needs are steadily increasing. However, LIDAR systems are heavy (20 to 100 kg) and currently operate from utility plane or helicopter. Due to high aircraft operation costs, this kind of sensors are not attractive for small-area surveying (of less than 100 hectares).

Unmanned Aerial Vehicles (UAVs) are also a highly dynamic growing sector, with the undeniable advantages of cost reduction compared to helicopters, eliminating the risk of endangering human lives in some cases, and the speed of implementation.

For its own surveying services but also for other professionnal-grade data providers, l’Avion Jaune company has created YellowScan, an ultra-light laser scanner intended for UAVs and other ultra-light aircrafts, which makes a perfect combination together with the OnyxStar FOX-C8-HD octocopter drone, built by AltiGator.
